“Red Lightning” by Ly Faulk

As she walked by, I tipped my glass and she winked at me. I watched her go, taking with her my fantasies….

Something electric filled the room as she paused in the doorway and assessed the evening’s clientele. She wore a clingy red dress and black tights with a subtle fishnet pattern. I couldn’t decide if I’d rather get a pair for myself or rip them off of her with my teeth. Blushing, I stirred the melting ice in my gin and tonic. One by one, she approached the aging businessmen at the bar until one of them was willing to take her to a hotel. As she walked by, I tipped my glass and she winked at me. I watched her go, taking with her my fantasies of us laying naked in bed, our breasts pressed against each other, whispering secrets in one another’s ear. Outside, the neon city thrummed with a thousand voices speaking all at once and a yearning towards spring.

Ly Faulk has loved reading and writing for as long as they could read and write. They still believe in the power of the written word to change lives. Twitter: @whismicalraven
